Job Description

African Parks is seeking an experienced line pilot to work in a challenging and remote area, performing pre- and post-flight planning, inspections, and operating aircraft safely. The role requires a 2-year contract with a 6-month probation period. The pilot will be responsible for the safety and operations of all aerial and ground operations, as well as assisting with maintenance and logistics. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for conservation and wildlife, excellent organizational and communication skills, and experience in bush flying.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely carry out all flights needed as required by the operations of the project\nTake responsibility for the safety and operations of all aerial and ground operations\nManage fuel stocks and refueling
  • aircraft support
  • helipads
  • runways and hangars.\nAssist with any work that needs to be done on AP aircraft.\nHelp with servicing and maintenance
  • as well as continued airworthiness of the aircraft
  • respect the maintenance schedule and assist appointed maintenance engineers on site
  • within the legal prescripts\nDuties to include the daily refueling
  • cleaning and continued care as well as management of equipment or parts and stock control\nMaintain flight folio/logbook
  • spreadsheets and online Operations management system admin up to date\nBe available as a relief pilot on other aircraft as required to serve the regional aerial support function.\nWhen the pilot is not flying
  • he/she is expected to support the projects regular operations (such as but not limited to
  • support in logistics
  • administration
  • IT
  • training of staff
  • sourcing of materials
  • etc.).\nCarry out any other relevant tasks that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor\nBe prepared to obtain an FAA validation\nBe prepared to do a Rotax line maintenance engine course

Requirements

  • Required licenses issued by the applicable Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA)\nRatings on C206
  • C182 and Savannah aircraft required.\nFAA fixed wing licence would be an advantage.\nValid Class 1 medical certificate;\nA minimum of 700 hours PIC flight time\nRotax engine experience / mechanical aptitude would be a benefit.\nExperience in bush flying would be an asset\nWilling to be based in a remote area with minimal infrastructure and support\nExcellent organizational
